Description

For this special issue of Posterzine, sponsored by Speedball Art, we catch up with Crystal Wagner.

Her sculptures will make you stop dead in your tracks, whether you encounter one wrapped around a building or meandering through a gallery space. The LA-based artist has a hybrid approach to printmaking, creating her swirling bioforms through cutting up coloured paper by hand.

Crystal worked as a college professor for 5 years before quitting to focus exclusively on her artwork. She’s since exhibited her work all over the world and created site-specific installations for Viacom in Times Square, THE Flaming Lips, NIKE, Warner Brothers and Toyota.

Crystal tells Posterzine about how her practice has evolved from creating imaginary birds, to figurative work, to the psychedelic sculptures she makes today.

Grab your copy to find out more about what it’s like to print your own work — as well
as create art with your other half.
